// About
GTADEX
A cross-referenced encyclopedia for the Grand Theft Auto series, built from the games' own files.
What this is
A structured database rather than an article collection. Every character, vehicle, pedestrian, mission, weapon, gang, district and radio station is a record with a stable number, filterable attributes, and links to the records it names.
A wiki can tell you who Big Smoke is. This tells you which missions he gives, which set he belonged to, who voiced him, and where his crack palace sits on the map.
Coverage
3 of 13 titles are built out in full: GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas. Those have vehicles, weapons, missions, characters, radio, districts and a map, with the numbers read from the game itself.
Another 9 carry what can be sourced without the game files, which today means every cheat code, and mission lists and completion checklists for most of them. Those pages say what they hold rather than implying more.
The unreleased title stays empty until launch. Nothing here is written from trailers, leaks or speculation.
Sources
Records come from three places, in order of preference.
- 01
Game files
Vehicle handling tables, ped stats, zone bounds, weapon tuning and localized names read straight out of a local install. Models and radar tiles are decoded and rendered from the same archives.
- 02
Cross-checking
Researched facts are checked back against the game files wherever the game carries them. Every GTA III and Vice City mission title is confirmed against the text the game itself displays.
- 03
Published reference
For the games with no local install, and for facts the files do not carry, everything is checked against two independent published sources before it lands. Where they disagree it is left out, and the pages say so: GTA 2 has no platform column because three lists assigned the same codes three different ways, and GTA V completion carries no percentages because published splits conflict.

Privacy
Nothing you search for leaves your browser. The index is a static file and every match is worked out on your machine. No third-party trackers run on this site.
Recently viewed entries are kept in your browser's local storage so the search panel can show them again. Clearing site data removes them. That data never reaches a server.
