Grand Theft Auto V

Los Santos. Three criminals, one last score. Grand Theft Auto V is Rockstar North's 2013 open-world game, set in Los Santos and Blaine County, a version of southern California built on the RAGE engine. It is the first game in the series with three playable leads. Michael De Santa is a retired bank robber in witness protection, Franklin Clinton repossesses cars for a Simeon Yetarian dealership, and Trevor Philips runs meth and guns out of a trailer in Sandy Shores. You switch between them on the fly, and during heists you switch between them mid-job. The game launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, reached PC in April 2015, and got a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series version in March 2022. Take-Two reported 210 million copies shipped by February 2025, which makes it one of the best-selling games ever released.

Cheats and achievements do not mix

Entering a cheat by console command or button combination disables achievements and trophies until you reload a save. The phone versions behave the same way. The one exception is 1-999-367-3767, which the game never registers as a cheat at all.

There is no money cheat

Every list promising a GTA V money code is wrong. Rockstar shipped none, on any platform, and the cash in single player is tied to the stock market and the heist payouts instead. The Lester assassination missions are the closest thing to one.

The black phone was left in by accident

Dialling 1-999-367-3767 sets off a small explosion above your head and turns the phone black. It reads as 1-999-EMP-DROP on the keypad, and the leaked source code showed it was a test cheat nobody removed. Dial it again to change back.

Cheats never worked in GTA Online

Story mode only. Rockstar stripped the cheat handler out of Online before launch, so no code, combination or phone number has ever done anything there.
